Picard watches as Q leaves. Silent for a moment, not looking at Data, head ever so slightly bowed. Walks over to the replicator, starts to order Earl Grey, stops, looks at Data. There is something in his eyes...memory? Regret? Relief? Gestures towards chair facing his deak, inviting Data to sit. Tries to speak several times, then stops, settling on:

"Welcome home, Mr. Data."

*Data takes a seat, looking a little apprehensive at first, but that quickly subsides*

Thank you sir!

*headtilts and fidgets a little with Bunnybit*

To echo Q...this will not be easy.

Glances quickly at Bunnybit, then looks at Data and smiles warmly.

"I understand that you had quite a unique experience on the NX-01. Please, tell me about your stay there. How is Captain Archer?"

Re: To echo Q...this will not be easy.

It was an unusual yet pleasant experience Captain. As I relayed to you before, I met many wonderful people, and saw crewmembers from all different ships and time periods! I attended a Christmas party thrown by Captain Archer, and a New Year's party! I became friends with Captain Archer's son Henry, and Crewman Izzy Secorro would sometimes play with me as well! And there was a large playset in the cargo bay for the children. I would frequent it a lot.

*perks up...but then sighs a little*

Though I do miss them...especially Mister Foster, I suppose I am better off here.

Re: To echo Q...this will not be easy.

Data, if you served on the NX-01 half as well as you have served aboard this ship, I daresay you were highly regarded by your crewmates there. It is never easy to leave people we have come to see as friends; understanding and being able to deal with that is part of being human. And...we missed you here as well, Data.

*smiles a little* Thank you Captain. It is good to be back.

Have I missed much?

Re: To echo Q...this will not be easy.

So it would seem. I myself have was called back to Earth for a few months for a briefing on our next mission, while the Enterprise was docked at DS9. While I was away, the crew was infected with a virus that made them a bit more "affectionate" towards each other than usual.
However, according to Commander Riker's report, the crew met the challenge with their usual ingenuity and professionalism.

Re: To echo Q...this will not be easy.

Was it the same virus that affected everyone early on in the ships career? *headtilts* Either way, I am glad things are somewhat back to normal... *looks as though this discussion as triggered an unpleasant thought, but then shakes it off*

Do we have any other missions that await us, Captain?

Reacts to Data's mood.

Smiles slightly at Data's quickness in drawing parallels to the Tolksy virus, then grows a bit more serious, though the warmth and obvious pleasure at having Data back never fades from his eyes.

"Indeed it was similar, Mr. Data. Since this is nt the first time we have encountered such a virus, the Science and Medical teams are working to create a...program...that will prevent any such viruses from coming aboard the ship in the future. The implementation of this program will require some time at a starbase, so our next mission will be a bit delayed. I am sure you can use that time to get -reaquainted- with the Enterprise-E and her crew. I will brief the crew on our next mission once we have finished at starbase."

Looks at Data as if he is going to make a comment, but thinks better of it.

Re: Reacts to Data's mood.

Acknowledged, sir. *headtilts* How long until our next mission? Are there any tasks you would like me to complete in the interim?

Re: Reacts to Data's mood.

Smiles again, and leans back.

"Once we have completed our refit at the nearest starbase, I will brief the senior staff and department heads about our next mission. Until then, Mr. Data, I believe there are more people on this ship than just me who would be happy to see you again."

Re: Reacts to Data's mood.

*headtilts, perking up a little bit* I have no doubt. I imagine I have indeed been missed! Is there anyone in particular that wishes to see me first sir?

Watches Data closely, chooses words carefully.

"I believe Mr. LaForge has missed you quite a bit. I do know that he was working very diligently to find a way to bring you home to us. I would recommend speaking with him at your earliest convenience. After you make yourself at home here, of course."

*Data nodnods, hugging Bunnybit to him* I will sir! Thank you!

*gets up to leave* I shall set up in my quarters and and then see if he is available!

Thank you Captain! *gathers his belongings and Spot, nods in greeting again and heads out of the room, door swishing closed behind him*
