[music |I'll Stay With You - Goo Goo Dolls]

::strides through the NX Enterprise's launch bay, hypo firmly in hand::

::shrugs at look from crewman, waving to signal that there's no emergency...they should be used to the odd to and fro traffic by now::

::climbs through Delta Flyer hatch, clapping hands briefly over ears to muffle loud clanging that immediately assaults them::

At this rate, there might be an emergency soon, though.

::shores up nerve, moving from aft compartment toward noise::

::stares::

::narrows eyes at lack of notice::

Harry!

::slams hyperspanner down on stubborn coil assembly one last time, jerking in surprise at hiss from behind::

OW!

::drops spanner, shaking throbbing hand instead::

::looks over shoulder, glowering::

Do you have to do that?

::blinks, nearly taking a step back and dropping the hypo::

Goodness, someone's cranky today...

::settles self, pursing lips at him reproachingly::

Did you have to be beating the shuttle components?

Here, let me look.

::bends, taking his hand and prodding gently::

It didn't seem like such a bad idea after I'd already exhausted every other one I could think of.

::yanks hand back, muttering under breath::

My hand is fine.

::waves it again, this time at repair target::

That coil assembly is another story. If I had to take a guess, I'd say either Renara or Jenay have been playing amateur engineer on it, and one or both of them has a long way to go before they meet standards.

Yes, and I'm certain you were never an amateur engineer.

::straightens, shaking head in bemusement::

Why don't you just leave it for tomorrow?

Can't. You never know, an emergency might come up and this tin can might need to actually go somewhere. Perish the thought these people should rely on their own technology.

::takes another half-hearted swing, sighing::

::catches stray thought, glancing up again, this time even more warily::

What's the hypo for?

Oh, really.

::decides to indulge his little game of distraction, loosening the grip again and raising own fingers to touch his heated lips::

::tilts head, dislodging the the caress as well::

Where should I start, then? What's my most recent sin?

::puts sulky expression back on, pretending to draw away::

Let's see...a couple of weeks after you went all out cooking soup for and extending dinner invitations to your father, you know what you managed to do?

::worries lower lip with teeth, contemplating::

I don't pretend to be very good with dates, but I think I usually manage to remember the big stuff...

::shrugs::

I'm at a loss.

::huffs::

My birthday. You forgot my birthday!

Actually, everyone forgot my birthday, my own son included, but we won't go into that...

::props against the Delta Flyer's outer hull, banging padd against knee and humming to self::

::shrugs at passing NX engineer, lifting wrist to check chronometer again...any minute now::

::slides another couple feet away from hatch, just in case::

::adds whistle to hum::

::slips past hatch, pinching bridge of nose and exhaling slowly::

::as if one basket case weren't enough to deal with...honestly, men::

...

::wheels, dropping fingers and pointing them in pre-emptive warning instead::

What?

What what?

::folds arms::

Why're you looking at me like that? I didn't do anything.

::offers a broad grin::

Nothing like forgetting someone's birthday, at least...

Don't be ridiculous. I didn't forget his birthday.

...

::braces hands on hips, tilting head::

How did you know I forgot his birthday?

::shrugs::

::won't even comment on her inability to hold a poker face::

Maybe I've rewired my comm badge to tie into the Flyer comm systems and a couple of others so I could stay on top of things.

Or maybe I just crawled inside your head.
