Kelby peeks around the corner of the gym door, and sees Secorro working out on the treadmill. Aside from her, the room is empty.
Not entirely sure how to go about recruiting people for a mutiny, Kelby saunters in and stops right next to Izzy's machine. He looks over at her and presses the start button on closest machine and gets on.
God damned computer didn't tell me I'd have to run.
He half-heartedly jogs for a bit and sneaks a peek over at Secorro.
You'd better be right about this one, Malware.
*tries to studiously ignore Kelby*
And I was enjoying this run...
*turns music and treadmill up, runs faster*
*ignores him some more, but knows he's looking, damn it*
*increases inclination, starts to run "uphill", such as it is*
Kelby notices as Secorro amps up her machine and runs faster. Jogging, he looks over at her, guages the speed she's at and...
...turns his machine down to a leisurely walk. He resists the urge to stick out his tongue.
He decides to wait until she gets tired.
The faster she runs, the more amused Kelby gets. Finally, he decides to say something.
"You know, you're not actually moving away from me, so you might as well walk."
*still has music on, so didn't hear his little insult*
*ignores him and runs*
She obviously didn't hear him.
Or... maybe she's just deciding not to hear him.
A test is required. Kelby lowers his voice to a quiet, conversational tone and says:
"You know, running like that, you might want to wear a heavier-duty sports bra."
Now, she either didn't hear him... or she'll kill him.
Maybe I should have thought about this some more... made a plan or something.
*starting to get a creepy-crawly feeling all over from his staring*
*tries to ignore him*
*glances over at him*
*he's still just standing there*
*sighs, turns the treadmill down a little, to a light jog, pulls the headphones off*
Is there something I can help you with? Sir?
Or you just having a pervy moment over there?
Finally! Down to business!
Kelby turns his treadmill completely off and faces Secorro.
"As a matter of fact, yes. There is something you can help me with..."
And he has no idea how to proceed. I suppose I can't just come out and ask... what if she rats me out to Archer?
Kelby waves his hands vaguely, searching for words.
*watches him fidget for a minute*
What could he...
... oh. OH.
Sorry, lieutenant. I'm seeing someone, as you well know.
*looks him up and down*
Besides, you're not really my type.
*stares at him, angrily*
I have family, Kelby.
*takes a deep breath*
It's not our call to make. We do our part, we do as we're ordered and put our faith into those above us.
That's what the uniform means.
Russel gets up and stretches.
"I know, Secorro. I wear the same uniform you do."
Kelby thinks for a few minutes and looks over at their reflections on the mirrored wall.
"For better or for worse, we're a military organization, the guardians of Earth..."
He looks over at her.
"...and every military organization has rules to deal with superiors who aren't doing their jobs."
The whole, you know, officer's code and all that. Command stuff. I don't really worry about it, to be honest.
*crosses arms and studies him for a second*
What exactly are you saying here?
"All I'm sayin' is they don't seem to worry about it either."
He gets up and walks away, leaving the gym. Right at the door, he stops and looks back at her.
"But someone should."
*furrows brow at the suggestion*
*just... looks at him, not sure what to say, really*
I'll keep that in mind, Lieutenant.
